Developmental Review

Every 1 to 2 months, a nurse from the County Infants & Toddlers program comes to do a developmental review on Bennett to make sure he is doing fine in that department.

He is 5 months adjusted age, but she evaluated him on the 4 month chart (the next one up is 6 mos). He has met all his milestones for the 4 month chart, so that is good! But he has a looong ways to go to meet the milestones for the 6 month chart! She said she will come back in February (to give us a little more time), but by then Bennett should be able to:

* Sit completely unassisted for several minutes at a time
* Use the pincer grasp to pick up cheerios
* Wave
* Make consonant sounds like "da da" or "ba ba"
* Look for toys when they fall (right now, its out of sight out of mind)
* Push up on hands when on his tummy

Lots of stuff for us to work on in the next two months!!!! I thought he was doing really well and starting to catch up to his actual age (7.5 mos), but he seems so far off from most of this stuff! Oh well, it will give us something to "do" with him during play time! If you see Bennett, make sure to wave hi and bye!

I have so much catching up to do here!!!!! However, as I read your most recent entry, it sounds as though Bennett is doing GREAT! With parents like you, you know he'll grow up to change the world so you have nothing to worry about. :-)

You have absolutely beautiful children. I am so glad this second little miracle boy is here and healthy. You have all been through so much and I hope this is the most miraculous and spiritual Christmas yet for all of you!!!

I am happy to hear Bennett has hit the milestones that he's meant to hit at this point! He will meet the 6 mo requirements in no time- like you said, these are things you can focus on during play time and over time, he'll achieve them all! It's good to have goals! Remember that was your platform during pageant years! :)
