Mel & Me

Yesterday, I co-hosted a baby shower for my best friend in the entire world - Melissa. She is 33 weeks pregnant with a little boy who will be named Elijah!

I wanted to share this picture, b/c it literally brings tears to my eyes to see how "far" we have come over the years.

Melissa and I met on the first day of freshman orientation for college in June 1999. We instantly clicked and have been the best of friends ever since. She and I are the female version of soulmates! Anyway, we're coming up on our 10th anniversary of our friendship this summer, and I'm in awe of how much we've been through together. Mel was my Maid of Honor in my wedding in 2003. She was there to help me through my labor and delivery with Carter, was there for me every step of the way through law school and was my biggest cheerleader at my graduation. She is Carter's Godmother. I was her Matron of Honor in her wedding in 2007. We were each others' support system as were were trying to get pregant and both encountered some fertility issues. She was the first person (after Ace) that I told when I was pregnant with Bennett (I was terrified of miscarrying again, so we didn't tell anyone other than Mel until we saw the heartbeat!), and she called me right after she got her positive test with Elijah!!

She was at the hospital with me at least once a week the entire time I was hospitalized with Bennett. She dropped everything she was doing and rushed to my side every time we thought it was "time." She was an uplifting force through Bennett's NICU stay. We've just been through every "up" and "down" together over the last 10 years.

Anyway, I am SO excited for baby Elijah!!! Melissa has asked me to be a labor support person for her, and I can't wait! I love how much we've "grown up" together. I can't wait to see her through such an amazing and exciting time in her life! And I can't wait for a new baby to love!

Ok, enough gooshiness :)

OK now - I'm tearing up again! This has been a weekend of tearing up for me. First of all - Thank you Chantelle for everything you did for Melissa's shower! Everyone enjoyed the cake and the idea for the theme was perfect! I know how busy your life is right now and the lack of sleep you are experiencing yet you still found time to get involved! Melissa is very lucky to have you for a friend! It was so nice talking to your mom too! I'm really glad we can get together every now and then and watch our families grow! Thanks again for all that you do!
