On the upswing again!

Bennett is doing SOOO well!!! He's gained a ton of weight since being back on CPAP and as of tonight, he is up to 3 lbs 11.8 oz!! He is also about 16 3/4'' long (up from 14.5'' at birth)!!!!!!!! You can really tell the difference in looking at him now versus when he was first born. I'll have to try to get a good comparison picture, although its nearly impossible to really grasp the size from a picture. People always tell me that he looks much bigger in pictures than he is in real life. He's definitely filling out and chunking up though!!! Thank the Lord!

Everything else is kind of standing status quo for right now. I've taken a break from the breastfeeding issue as his mouth is still too small to get a good latch and when he does get some milk he hasn't figured out how to swallow and ends up gagging on it (which leads to desating and bradys), and I don't want to cause him undue stress. He'll be much more mature and able to grasp the concept in a week or so and we can charge forward then.

He had an eye exam yesterday and everything came out perfect. Vision problems are very common in preemies, but it appears he's dodged that obstacle as well. Again, we are giving thanks to God for that!

So, we'll probably have a few more days on CPAP and then see how he does on the cannula. If he does well, we'll probably see him transitioning to an open air crib and starting to drink from a bottle next week! If not, he just needs a little more time to grow and mature. I'm trying REALLY hard not to focus on TIME right now. What seems like really "soon" to outsiders seems like an eternity to me, and even more so if I'm counting and harping on it.
