Our baby boy Bennett was born 10 weeks premature on May 5, 2008, after mommy's water broke at merely 21 weeks of pregnancy. This blog documents Bennett's struggles and triumphs as he grows.
For some reason, I can't write in the post body from my phone. Weird!
Sunday afternoon Bennett's condition rapidly worsened and he suddenly went into respiratory distress. I rushed him to the ER and when they put on the pulseox, he was only saturating about 80%. Under 92% in unacceptable. They put him on high flow oxygen and started him on albuterol breathing treatments. They chest xray showed fluid/pneumonia in his right lung. He is negative for RSV bit positive for another virus that can act like RSV. So they have him on IV fluids, antibiotics and steroids. He is on the nasal cannula on between 1 and 2 liters of oxygen.
He can't come home until he is off the oxygen and eating well. Hopefully, it won't be too much longer. Prayers are greatly appreciated!
We've been praying and we will continue to pray until we have a successful outcome! This is going to work itself out- I am just so thankful that we're in a country with great medical care for our loved ones! Bennett can do it- he has tons of love surrounding him!!!
