Yay for Bennett's lungs!!

Bennett saw his Pulmonologist this morning! We reviewed his sleep study report, which showed moderate sleep apnea secondary to reflux. He had only one episode the entire test where his oxygen levels fell below 90%. She said that his right lower lung is still has some crackling sounds, but based on everything together, she believes that it is not systemic lung disease but rather aspiration from reflux. So....we're discontinuing the oxygen completely AND the lung meds!!!! We'll keep the oxygen on hand for illness this winter. We're going to continue using the apnea monitor for another month at night and try thickening his night bottles with cereal to make it less likely he will aspirate the refluxed milk.

She also recommended we introduce solids to him now. She said that his weight to height ratio is good, but that is because he is REALLY short, lol. He is only 22 5/8''!! She thinks that is why he isn't gaining weight, b/c if he were to do so, he'd be fat, and his body doesn't want him to be fat. Interesting huh? She has no clue why he's so damn short, but said there really isn't anything we can do about it, so why worry. But she said as long as he is eating well and meeting developmental milestones, she is happy.

So, the reflux continues to suck, but everything else is GREAT!!!!
