What looks different in this picture????
Yep - Bennett lost the isolette and gained a CRIB today!!!!!!!! I love it! It makes it soo much easier to change him, get him out, etc. The isolette was killing my back. And its sooo nice to have full view of him! His axillary temperature was a tad low tonight, so I'm hoping he keeps it up so he can stay in there!!
Tonight, Bennett weighed in at a whopping 1995 g, that's 4 lbs 6.5 oz!!! He's on fire!!
Disclaimer: Mom's of full term babies, do NOT think something is wrong b/c your baby didn't gain weight so rapidly. You must remember that Bennett is getting an extra TEN calories per ounce added to his breast milk and is basically force-fed every milliliter he can handle for his weight right now. They will gradually wean him off the extra calories, and then you won't see him gaining nearly as fast. However, b/c he is so far off from where the "average" weight is for a preemie his gestational age (36 weeks) weighs (on average, 5.5 lbs), they are giving him as much help as they possibly can to gain right now.
Here is a picture of him being weighed last night, so you can get a good idea of how much he has grown!!
He rocked it with the bottle again today! He took 29 mls his first bottle and 28 mls his second! His full feed is 37 mls, so he's not doing too shabby!!! We had a pretty awesome nursing session tonight too. He latched on right away and had a good strong sucking pattern going for about 15 minutes! We didn't test weigh him afterward to see how much he ingested because he was SO passed out. But it was enough to cause him to give me three huge burps!! This was the first time he didn't flip out and brady as soon as my milk let down!! That is what we call PROGRESS people! I'm so happy because I was starting to get a little worried. Nursing is sooo important to me and I was beginning to think he wasn't going to catch on to it.
Here is a picture of him getting his afternoon bottle :)
And this is how he looks afterward - oblivious to the world!!!
Thanks so much for reading and cheering him on!!
