Also, he has dropped down in weight to just under 3 lbs. This is to be expected, and just like full term babies, preemies often lose weight for a week or two before they start gaining. Our nurse explained that most of that weight loss is really just water weight, so we need not worry. They upped his TPN settings, so he is getting more calories, nutrients and hydration. Once he stabilizes on the vent and with his blood gasses, they will be able to start feeding him breast milk through a oral gavage (OG) tube running to his tummy.
Regardless of what the "stats" say, Ace and I can see that Bennett has really progressed. He doesn't get upset so easily anymore. The nurses have started letting me "help" out with his care more too! Tonight, I got to clean his face (he drools a lot), change his diaper, and help flip him and place his vent tubes!!! I actually felt like his mommy tonight :) He spent a good hour holding my hands with both of his hands and was sleeping so comfortably. It was a very sweet moment. I think he knows me :)

my best wishes for an uneventful NICU stay. Bennett (and you) will have good and bad days in the NICU - it's one of the hardest things to accept during this time of your life.
He looks great.

You are such a wonderful, wonderful mama. He knew what a splendid life and family awaited him and just couldn't wait any longer to get out! :-)
Keep up the great attitude and know you're in my thoughts!
