Bennett is here!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday morning, we failed another biophysical profile, this time only scoring a 2! So my doctors all agreed that it was time for our boy to come on out. They scheduled me for a c-section at 4:00 p.m.

Bennett came out with a good hearty cry and got apgars of 9 and 9!!!!!!!!!! I got to see him and kiss him before they whisked him off to the NICU. They put him on a ventilator so he could rest and not work so hard to breathe. Ace and my mom spent a nice visit with him in the NICU after they did their full work up on Bennett. They extubated him around 6 a.m. since he was breathing so well on his own. However, this afternoon they put him back on the vent b/c he was needing more oxygen supplementation than they would like to see. He's taking nearly double the amount of breaths that the vent is making him take, showing he is working hard on his own too.

They had to put a new IV catheter line in him this afternoon for "feedings." Normally, they do this through the umbilical line so they don't have to puncture the skin, but Bennett's cord was under too much stress in utero that they couldn't use it. He'll probably be on the artificial "TPN" feedings for about a week, then he can start taking some of the milk I'm pumping through a feeding tube.
