The big news of the weekend is that Bennett is back at his birth weight of 3 lbs 2.4 oz!! YAY! He is up to 18 mls at his feedings and his doc said he'll be on full feeds (24 mls, or .8 oz, every 3 hrs) by Monday, and will be able to come off the IV nutrition!!! It will be awesome to lose that last IV!
Slightly worrisome is the fact that Bennett has started to have a lot more episodes of oxygen desaturation over the weekend. They want his O2 saturation to be between 90 and 100%. If it goes below 90%, his alarm goes off. If he does this a lot, or if he doesn't come back up to 90+ relatively quickly, they increase his O2. Yesterday, his O2 was up to 30% at times (normal room air O2 is 21%). This is a lot more than he has required in the past. I'm not sure why this is happening, as his respirations and heart rate remain beautiful during the desats. It seems like it happens more when he is sleeping deeply, so maybe he is taking shallow breaths? He is nurse said it could also be a sign that he is getting sick. I am praying that its nothing more than him being a preemie.
Here are some pics of me holding Bennett the other night. You can really see how tiny he is when someone is holding him! (excuse my deathly look - it was 11 pm).
